IOM has provided technical assistance to governments in order to establish contracting mechanisms to ensure fair, transparent and decent placement of migrant workers, particularly in the framework of bilateral agreements. Among the services provided, IOM supported visa application procedures, travel arrangements, pre-departure orientation and follow-up.
Currently, and since September 6, 2013, IOM is operating the Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC) in El Salvador and Honduras for those wishing to travel to that country with temporary residence visa. This occurs under the contract awarded by the Government of Canada to the VFS Global company.
